With the appointment of Catherine Simmonds as our new Productive Gardens Project Co-ordinator, Springhead will be getting more children involved in growing, cooking and eating fresh produce.
Springhead has significantly reduced both its carbon footprint and energy costs, through a range of new energy saving installations.
20 secondary glazing units, 139 high efficiency LED lights, and a range of roof, ceiling and floor insulation have been installed with funding from Low Carbon Dorset as part of the European Regional Development Fund, and the BA Carbon Fund.
Bat detectors, microscopes, bird boxes with cameras, fishing nets, binoculars – and even an underwater camera for photographing fish – are among the new items of equipment we have been able to buy, thanks to two grants.
