Location
Due to Springhead being sited in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and nearby down land recognised as a ‘Site of Special Scientific Interest’, plus its location on ‘Hardy’s Trail’ (landmarks associated to author Thomas Hardy) and ‘Dorset’s Cycleway’, people of all ages and from all walks of life find it an exciting and enriching place to visit, both as a resource for learning and for play.
In addition, the centre is situated approximately four miles from the ancient hilltop town of Shaftesbury, within easy travelling distance of many interesting places to visit such as Gold Hill; Shaftesbury Abbey; The Ancient Technology Centre at Cranborne; Stonehenge; Corfe Castle and Lulworth Cove; Stourhead House; Kingston Lacy; Monkey World; Oceanarium (The Bournemouth Aquarium) and the magnificent Dorset Jurassic coastline.

By Road
From Shaftesbury:
Take the A350 south for about 4 miles to Fontmell Magna. Turn left at the cross roads in Fontmell Magna (opposite the public house the Fontmell) into Mill Street. Although Springhead is located on right-hand side about 400 metres from the junction, non pedestrian visitors must proceed to the next turning on the right-hand side to follow the lane leading to Springhead’s car park.
From Blandford Forum:

By Train
The nearest station is Gillingham, on the Waterloo to Exeter line. A taxi stand can be found just outside Gillingham Station. The journey to Springhead takes approximately 20 minutes
